2007 September Houston Market Report

Houston’s housing market in September saw mixed results with increases in median and average sales price on a year-over-year basis. A significant decline was seen in both number of properties sold and in total dollar volume.

Houston entered the usual end of summer sales season, however, the decline in properties sold in September was the largest in more than a decade.  In terms of sales and pricing, Houston remained ahead of 2005 with the inventory of homes relative to sales well below the past 10 year average and with pricing holding steady.

5,984 properties sold at a value of $1.2 billion.  Single-family median price reached $150,500 and average price reached $202,963.
